California Coalition for Pretrial Accountability

Dear California Bail Agent,

For decades government sponsored pre-trial release programs have been expanding beyond their mandated purpose. These programs have become the direct competition of surety bail.  We are steadily losing bail premium dollars to a government agency that is working within the jail and court facilities.

The California Bail Agents Association (CBAA) and The Golden State Bail Agents Association (GSBAA) have joined forces in an effort to challenge their funding, authority and false claims of saving money for taxpayers.  Over the last 2 ½ years, an effort to bring reform to the County of Santa Clara pretrial release program has been steadily progressing.  We are pleased to announce that we have been able to initiate an independent audit of the County of Santa Clara pretrial release program.   Our goal is to bring reform to this program and take this successful effort statewide.

Funds raised in Santa Clara have come from agents and sureties familiar with this project.  In order to make this successful and take it statewide, we are asking all California Bail Agents to donate to this project.  Please review the donation form and respond as you are able.  As you can see there are varying contribution levels.

We believe you will want to join us and contribute because:

  • * You too are feeling the negative effects of your pretrial program.
  • * You are tired of seeing your taxpayer dollars wasted
  • * You have contributed in the past.
  • * You see this as a smart business investment.
  • * You believe in what we are doing.

Your sincere and immediate consideration will truly be appreciated.
Changes in the Pretrial Release System will not come from CBAA, GSBAA, Al Lopez or Attorney Ash Pirayou, these changes to this system will only come from YOU!

Sincerely,
Al Lopez

CBAA, President
